It’s been a while since we’ve posted on the blog. The reason for it being so quiet is that Andrea Girling has been studying for a Fine Art Masters degree, which she successfully completed! She is now looking forward to graduating in July this year.
We have been thinking of changing the name of our collective to incorporate our interests in other areas of art. Andrea’s main discipline is in drawing and is interested in the dualities of the fast/slow and the machine/handmade. Her research has been based around the question of ‘What is it to be human in the technological and digital age?’ and ‘Are we going too fast for nature?’.

The Scarred Landscape paper cutouts have been intricately cut out by hand (no laser cutting here!). The scarred landscape represents the soldiers from the First World War. The trees are almost unrecognisable.
The flag book titled ‘A Black Leaden Mass’ was in memoriam to those that died and suffered in the first bombings in Norfolk in January 1915. One person in Norfolk during the 1915 bombings described the sighting of the Zeppelin to that of a black leaden mass. An eerie sight I would have thought across the beautiful Norfolk landscape.
Eastern Artists’ Book Collective had a great couple of days at Turn the Page 2014 (2nd & 3rd May). The response and feedback from both visitors and fellow exhibitors was fantastic! All our hardwork paid off. We now look forward to next years event.
We are very pleased to announce that we have been selected to take part in this years ‘Turn the Page’. Yay! We are so excited and can’t wait to be part of it. A fantastic fair held at The Forum in Norwich.
Here’s a little about them:
Turn the page artists’ book fair is a UK and international exhibiting and selling platform for artists who are creating work that is inspired by the structural and conceptual properties of the book form. The event is held over 2 days in the spectacular atrium at the Forum, Norwich and is fast establishing its place amongst the top UK Book Art events. Check out their website: http://turnthepage.org.uk/
We’ve done it! The first proposal has been sent to http://turnthepage.org.uk/
